How to Care for Your Car’s Interior

The interior of a car requires special care in order to maintain a like-new appearance.

Waste control. Trash is bad news for your car’s interior, especially food-related trash. Be sure to clear out your trash before it has a chance to pile up, and vacuum regularly. Otherwise you could experience bug infestations and/or unpleasant odors.

Vinyl and leather care. You will need to take good care of your car’s dashboard and other vinyl or leather interior panels in order to deter sun- and age-related deterioration. Clean your interior panels regularly with a damp cloth, avoiding any harsh cleaners, and follow with a product that will protect your dash and other panels and prevent them from drying out.
Vinyl: Although products like Armor-All may seem like a quick and easy solution, they may harm rather than help your dash. To maintain and replace the oils in the vinyl, rub Vaseline into the dash and other panels, wiping off the excess with a lint-free towel.
Leather: Buy a high-quality leather conditioner, and be sure to apply it regularly.

Good scents. The finishing touch on a clean, detailed car interior is a fresh scent. Once you are done cleaning, you can hang an air freshener or spray fragrance in the vents to add a sense of personality.
