How to Select a Car Stereo

Selecting a car stereo can be a difficult decision if you don’t know what is out there. However, the market is designed to cater to individual preferences, so the most important decision you need to make is what you want in a stereo.

Purely functional. Perhaps you just want to upgrade your stock radio and/or tape deck to a CD player. Or, perhaps you need to replace a deck or components that no longer work. If your standard is pure functionality, you’ll escape from the store with much less of a dent in your wallet than those with loftier dreams. There are plenty of low-cost stereo components that simply do their job. Just let the salesperson know your preferences, so that they don’t try to sell you more than what you want.

The novice stereo system. If you like your music loud and clear but you are not interested in going all out, the novice stereo is for you. How loud you want it will determine the quality and capability of the components you will need to buy. Be prepared for a complete stereo makeover, however, as stock components generally can’t handle the same power levels as aftermarket components.

The competitor’s stereo. If your goal is to have the best of the best, you’ll need a stereo that is competition worthy. Do your research and buy the best possible components. A top-of-the-line car stereo shop can help you realize your wildest dreams.

If you select your stereo with specific wants and needs in mind, you’re sure to be happy with your decision.
