Saving Water in Your Home
Water is a natural resource that we often abuse with waste, over usage, and pollution. There are some simple ways you can conserve water in your home.
First, if you are renovating or building a new home, purchase and install a low flush toilet. Using a low flush toilet will save 25,000 gallons of water a year. If this seems to costly and drastic measure, you can also avoid flushing every time the toilet is used. Another solution is to avoid putting paper waste into the toilet, which extends the energy needed to process waste wat
Do not wash your car unless it is raining. Cars get dirty and Americans are often obsessive about the appearance of their cars, but washing your car on a weekly basis creates a great amount of waste. If you wait until a heavy rain, you can don on your rain slicker and get out there with a sponge and soap.
Do not leave the water running at full blast when you are washing dishes. Soap all the dishes and then rinse with a low trickle of water. Using on basin full of soapy water saves water that is needed to help the dishes soak and remove the grease and grime.
Water that you use to wash fruits and vegetables can be used to water plants. My plants seem to love the water from the fish tank or turtle bowl. The plants seem to thrive on the waste matter in the water of aquarium based animal life.
Shower together with your lover, partner, or friend. This makes it fun and saves water. When you do shower alone or with another make sure you turn the water off when you are soaping up. This break of about five minutes, can save a great deal of water in the course of a year.
When you wash your face, use the stopper to wash up. Using a drop of olive oil in your water will also help moisturize your face while washing.
Save water and avoid waste. If you run out of this resource, we are all going to be affected.
